I have the most awesome friends! Look what they made me (and X):


The ladies of Knot Another Hat, lead by my very good friend Destiny, made this as a baby shower item for Xavier! He is getting a lot of use out of it as he has tummy time and takes on the arduous task of learning how to crawl. He has the legs going pretty well, but as of yet he can either get his butt up in the air or his head, but not both. The patterns are from Roo Designs (Rav Link) and the yarn is Cascade 220 Superwash. Such a lovely yarn! Such a lovely blanket! Such lovely friends!

Black Sheep Bingo

It's that time of year again!

A Quick Post

Just letting you all know that I am still around. Blair got sent to Atlanta for a week on rather short notice. So I spent all of last week at my parents with the little one. It was a pretty good week. It ended with Blair getting home (yay!) and our first date since X was born (double yay!). We went to see Kooza in Portland, then went out to Noodles afterward. I can say it was definitely stressful leaving the little guy at home, but we made it! He did too! and so did grandma for that matter! =)

I got a little more work done on my birch scarf. I'm about 1/2 way through it. I'll try and get some photos posted soon. For now I am settling back into being at home!

Peas & Carrots

I have a new pattern available!

I was so inspired when I made the first legwarmers for X that I had to design my own. I added a slip stitch pattern to break up variegated yarn, to avoid or at least limit pooling. Then I changed the pattern completely to my own style. I used a skein of my new colorway Peas & Carrots in my Tencel Sock yarn. It worked up like a dream. I have also sized up the pattern to fit little legs when they are a bit bigger. These are the newborn size and I added a 0-6 month and 6-12 month size. It's just amazing, these are the same size as the first pair I made him and look how much he has grown! I have enough yarn leftover I think I can make the biggest size as well. I just might have to soon with the rate he is growing! You can find the pattern here on my website or here on Ravelry!

Birch

I actually have knitting to share!


Part of getting ready for Black Sheep Gathering is sample knitting. I need a couple new things, so I thought I would get knitting! First up is the Birch Scarf out of my Tencel Sock Yarn in color Summer Sky. The pattern comes in 3 different sizes: scarf, stole, and wrap. I'm knitting the scarf size, which is 7" x 60". This pattern is so cool! It's advanced entrelac. So it is entrelac with a lace pattern on every square. It actually is much easier than it looks! It is all scrunched up at the moment, but I'm sure it will block out beautifully. I love it!

Fiber Festival in Hood River

I was just wondering, if there was a smallish fiber festival, say 20-30 vendors, in Hood River would you be interested in attending?

I have been thinking that right around this time of year would be perfect with all of the orchards in bloom.

What sort of things would you be interested in seeing at one?

I think this pattern is so cute. I have plans to cast it on for myself in the very near future. The only thing I have noticed so far is that it has a huge amount of ease. So if you want to knit it for yourself make sure to account for the ease! The top shown has 8" of ease. The pattern is available here in the shop!

Studio Mouse

X is already 1 month old!


Here is my bitty studio mouse! He sleeps a couple of hours in the afternoon so I am starting to take advantage of it to get a few things done in my studio. I'm starting to dye a little bit, but mostly in preparation for Black Sheep Gathering! I received confirmation for my booth out on the lawn, which I will be sharing with Gardiner Yarn Works. So make sure to stop by and say hi, if you are visiting the show!

Look Ma, No Pants!

Shorts and Leg Warmers to be exact!

Technically I still need to put elastic around the waist of these, but I am going to call them done for now. They are 6 month size, so plenty of time before X needs them. They are the Baby Shorts (Rav link) from Debbie Bliss book Essential Baby. They were pretty easy to knit although my mind kept wandering with all the stockinette involved. I keep thinking there must be a way to knit these all in the round. I'm sure there is a pattern out there already for it too, I just need to look around for one. I actually finished these before X got here, so a little time delay there. I knit them out of some of the recycled yarn from my sweater that I talked about back here. Which was Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino in it's original form.



I just finished these baby legwarmers (Rav Link). I finished the first one right after X was born and then zipped through the second one shortly after that. The yarn was an awesome find at Knot Another Hat at their Spring Sale. It was a 50 gram skein on Abundant Yarn & Dyeworks yarn, which is now Pico Accuardi Dyeworks in color Charlotte's Eyes. I only paid $4 for it! I knit the legwarmers and I'm pretty sure I can get a pair of socks for him out of the leftovers. I now have a love for baby legwarmers! I might have to do a bit of stash diving for some other random 50g skeins of sock yarn to make even more! The pattern I used was Leg Warmers from The Expectant Knitter by Marie Connolly.
