Seattle

I am home and settling back in! Mostly catching up with mountains of laundry. Here is our trip:

Kids all buckled in and ready to go!

This trip was really more about relaxing and taking things easy, so we didn't see too many sites. We went to the aquarium, which was spendy, but my kids loved it! Here is F hanging out by one of the tanks!

We got both of the kids play cameras, which have been a big hit! I'm sure you will see photos for Photo Friday soon from our trip!

I really like this photo of Blair with the kids! It was hard to get photos where they are all together and not running every which way!

The other excursion we took was a boat tour of the harbor. It was pretty foggy when we started. On the buoy you can kind of make out some local sea lions.

Thankfully it cleared up part way through the tour and we got a good look at the city.

We also checked out a couple of yarn shops and book stores. Mostly it was a great rest. Now we both can get back to work doing the great things we do everyday! The kids are happy to be back home too!

New! Woven Stitch Scarf / Cowl

Another New Pattern to share with you while I am out of town!

This is the Woven Stitch Scarf or Cowl (rav link). The pattern has both options! At the end you decide which one it will be. I include a full tutorial with photos of how to cut the fringe and make it even! The yarn shown above is Panda Silk in Color: Monet. The scarf is shown above and the cowl below:

Here is the cowl full length. It only takes one skein of sock yarn to complete it!

Here are 2 wraps around the neck. Very stylish to wear it like this. The yarn is Superwash Sock in color Wind Chill.

Here it is wrapped 3 times around, for that cozy feel on those especially cold and blustery days.

The pattern can be found in the shop for .pdf, paper copy or kit options. Remember you get a 10% discount on yarn when you buy the kit and FREE shipping every day. It is also available on Ravelry, which I also love!

Baby Legwarmers

Remember these leggings?

I most certainly do! They still fit my baby really well months later. Well, a friend of mine asked for the pattern because she bought the same kit. I was happy to oblige. So it is available either in the shop as a .pdf I will send, or a paper pattern through the mail, or a kit with a lovely 10% discount on yarn! Also available on Ravelry!

I love that these leg warmers only take 50g of yarn! So 1 kit with 100 grams will get you 2 pairs of leggings! They are also so cute and fashionable on those chubby baby legs! A definite must for any baby in your life!

Spinzilla Finale!

I'm so proud of all that I spun last week! I had a blast being a part of Spinzilla! I definitely plan on doing it again next year!

The pink I plan on plying together and making Wee Ambrosia (rav link) for my daughter. Then the grey will be plied together and will make a raglan sweater for my son, possibly with stripes to make it go further. Then the bright multi-color will be a stripe in a sweater I'll design for my son too. I'm so excited about all of this new yarn!

Note: I'll be out of town next week, so all orders placed between October 19 - October 27 will be shipped on Monday October 28th!

Baby Pants

I finished a pair of soaker pants for my cousin's baby, for her first birthday.

These are the Kanoko Pants (rav link). The pattern was interesting. If I was going to knit them again I would have started them in the round for the ribbing. I don't think it is necessary to fold them over and add elastic because the ribbing is so long. The other mods I made were I lengthened the pants to 9" before starting the cuff. Then I *k2, k2tog* around to bring the cuff in a little, then I did 10 rounds of k2,p2 to finish off the cuff. I like how they turned out, though I also wish I had added some shaping to the legs so they wouldn't be quite so baggy. Lot of ideas! Still it's good for a free pattern! =)

Spinzilla Week!

I am really enjoying spinning for Spinzilla #teamknotanotherhat

This first bobbin is 6.2 oz and 340 yards. I'm very proud of myself because I only have an hour or so each evening to spin after the kids have gone to bed. I can't wait to finish off the light pink and ply them both together. I'm thinking either a small sweater for me or something warm and fuzzy for my daughter. Either way, it's just so much fun to be spinning again!
