New Yarn! Silk Lace

Here is the tenth and last yarn that I would like to introduce you to:

It is 100% silk laceweight yarn. It is the ultimate in luxury yarn. It is incredibly soft and sensuous. Every skein that I dyed I wanted to keep and pet. Luckily there was enough left over that I have my very own ball with enough for a laceweight scarf. It comes in 4 oz and has 1180 yards and would be suitable for a needle size of 1US or smaller. Though if I keep this yarn I will probably make smaller skeins of 100 grams and 885 yards because it comes in 400 gram cones instead of 1lb cones like the other yarns.

I chose this particular yarn because I wanted a luxury laceweight yarn. I love the alpaca laceweight that I already carry and thought that silk laceweight might be a nice higher end yarn for that exquisite one-of-a-kind lace project.

It would be ideal for scarves, shawls, or anything else that calls for laceweight yarn.

I listed up 3 skeins of this yarn in my etsy shop. The 3 that are listed are Columbia River, Smokey Rose, and Purple Midnight. So, let me know what you think! Blog contest details are listed here. Don't forget to check out the Wool Lace, Silk Sport, Wool/Silk Single, Silk Boucle, Silky Sock, Wool Single, Alpaca Boucle, Worsted Wool, and Worsted Wool/Silk.

Ok, hand over the yarn and nobody gets hurt!! I love, love, love this yarn. I'd love to see it in Sea Turtle or Berry Pie as well. I have a number of silk laceweight yarns in my stash and I never tire of buying more. I do need to say that I like larger skeins because I can rarely make a shawl using only 1 skein at 850 yds.

Did I mention that I love this yarn?

Love the smooth bled of colors for all three sets of yarns. It really does sound like a luxury yarn. Lovely :)

Okay....this is the best yet! I love the colors and I can see that I am making a shawl. I like the idea of the larger skiens. Teri

I don't knit lace, but I know a number of people who do and this would be an amazing yarn to carry. And one skein at 800+ yards would be enough for many patterns, which is awesome.

I have never knit lace, but now I am thinking I need to try. I really really like the Columbia River color. So gorgeous! I too like the fact that it has more yardage. Great stuff!

I don't knit much lace, so this is probably not the sort of thing I'd use often, but I think it would be great for a special project.

I love the colours, but I'm giggling a bit at the description for the Columbia River - I don't know very many men who'd wear elegant shawls or light lacy scarves, regardless of how masculine the colour might be.

Nice colors, but I'm an instant gratification big-yarn-big-needles kind of girl...

These are definitely my favorite skeins so far. I could see my self using this yarn for special gifts. The yarn itself would be a beautiful gift to a knitter. Bravo!

I have really enjoyed seeing your new yarn every day, and I greatly respect your willingness to open yourself up to critique. Keep up the good work!

Oh, these are lovely! I'm not a lace knitter either, but might try with these gorgeus yarns! All the colors are relly beautiful. I agree with the others, larger skeins are good.

SILK! SILK! SILK! (crowd chanting)

I agree that larger skeins are better for lace - I hate merging ends on a light cobwebby shawl.

This is very pretty and I could see myself using it, though I have never used silk before and have heard that it it a little hard to knit with. I would try it though and I especially love the smoky rose colorway!
