Turntable Wrap

Another new pattern to the shop is the Turntable Wrap by Hillary Smith Callis.

It really does look like a turn table with ridges much like your favorite song captured on vinyl. I just had to pair it with a Copper Treble Clef shawl pin. The yarn is MIO Columbia Sport in colors Moss and Raven Storm. It knits up like a dream in this pattern. I just want to snuggle up in this shawl and listen to my favorite tunes!

See it in person this weekend at Oregon Flock and Fiber! We are in a new location in the Main Building. No more rain for us!

Wizzo

Wizzo is a new fantastic pattern by Lee Meredith. I'm really excited to carry it in the shop!

What makes it so exciting? Well it is actually a pretty simple shape to knit, but because of the placement of holes and buttons there is a myriad of ways to wear it.

As you can see I had a lot of fun playing with it. The yarn is my Superwash Bulky in color Poppy Field. My friend Michelle knit it up for me she said she really loved the yarn. It was a super fast knit. It takes only 2 skeins of bulky yarn for the small size (shown) and 4 for the large size. Plus you get a 10% discount on yarn when you order them all together.

I went with simple buttons because the colors are so bold. I think it would also look really stunning in subtler colors and fancy buttons. Actually any which way you make this will be fabulous! You can't go wrong.

I'll have it on display at Oregon Flock and Fiber this next weekend, so if you are attending, make sure to stop by the booth and play with it in person. It's lots of fun! We'll be in a new location inside, out of the weather, in the Main Building!

Thrums Class!

Remember these? My friend Jill is teaching an awesome class at Knot Another Hat on these very booties! She taught me how to thrum in a single afternoon and now you have the chance to take it too! Every class comes with yarn and fiber included! The fiber is the MIO Pencil Roving, which I think is the best thing ever. In fact if you are looking for Pencil Roving Knot Another Hat just bought out everything I have! So make sure to talk to them! I'll dye more, don't worry, but it probably won't be until sometime in October.

I am also teaching Finesse Your Weaving in November, which will go over fine tuning your weaving from beginning to end. So if you would like to take a class with me I would be delighted to meet you!

Clair de Lune

Now back to knitting and projects and more!

This is the Clair de Lune Shawl. My friend Paula knit it for me for the booth, but left me to block it. I was happy to do it! Each one of the picots is pinned out. It actually takes less time than you think. I started in the middle and then did halves until it was all done.

Here is the top view. Isn't it beautiful? I just love the intricate lace panel detail.

Here is the whole thing. It is knit out of the new Yakkity Yak Sock Yarn in colors Owen and Moss. So not only is it gorgeous to look at, it is gorgeous to wrap yourself up in!

Here it is decoratively styled with a Plover Designs Treble Clef Shawl Pin. It's taken me this long to get it up in the shop because it was an instant hit at Black Sheep and I sold out of all of my patterns. Not to worry, I have more in stock now and plenty for Oregon Flock and Fiber. So, make sure to stop by the booth and check out this stunning shawl in person!

Fetching Mitts

Last week or so my husband had a conference at work. One of his coworkers is from Dublin, Ireland. She likes to bring things for the people she is visiting and asked Blair what she could bring for me. I, of course, mentioned yarn and pointed her to the very nice yarn shop we visited when over there. She isn't a knitter herself, so asked for color and yarn ideas. Thankfully they have a Uniquely Irish section on their website and I picked out some Soft Donegal Tweed and gave her some colors ideas.

So, of course, if she is going to bring me yarn, I knew I had to make her a little something. So, I whipped out a pair of Fetching Mitts (rav link) in Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran from my stash. She likes dark colors, blacks and navy, so I thought she would like them. She did! She said my knitting was very even and that she would have to hide them from her sister. =) I'm glad they were well received and it's also quite an honor to have my knitting go all the way back to Ireland. We are thinking we might just need to make another trip over there sometime!

Baby Bear Hat

Projects have been flying off the needles these past couple weeks.

I knit up this really quick bear hat (rav link) for some friends of ours who are expecting a baby at the end of October. I thought I had plenty of time, but they got a really good job offer in Wisconsin so are moving right now! As we speak they are on their way. I was so happy I got to meet up with them before they went and get this wee little hat to them. I hope it will keep their new wee one warm and happy in their new home!

Beautiful Wreck Mini Skeins

One of the new things I am doing with the Beautiful Wreck Collection is Mini Skeins. I love these little bitty skeins of joy!

See what I mean? These are out of MIU Superwash Sock. I have a few sets ready to ship. So if you order them today, they should ship out today! I'll also have them at Oregon Flock & Fiber if you want to see them in person.
